Lume Green bathroom Reno

So the customers bathroom was the original bathroom from when they bought the house some 15 years ago. No real storage, all pipes visible, a leaking shower cubicle and very squeaky click flooring.

They contacted me looking to replace the fittings and retile the walls and floor.

After visiting the customers to take measurements to quote the job, it became apparent there was going to be a bit more prep work required before hand. The stud walls weren’t square to each other in the shower area and they were no where near plumb in the vertical. So in order to rectify, the plasterboards would need to be removed, the framing of the stud walls corrected (and properly tied together as there was a lot of movement too). While we were going back to the framing, it was decided we would create a custom niche for the shower.

The walls could then be re-boarded using waterproof tile backer boards from Jackoboard, which provide an excellent substrate to tile onto. They are water repellent and have insulating properties and can be sealed up to create a really sound installation ready for the wet area of the shower.

With the walls now square and plumb and boarded with Jackobaords we now had a great surface to tile onto. The Lume green tiles from N&C Tiles were a lovely choice which with the brass fittings created a really nice contemporary look. With the tiles being small format, ensuring the the setting out and spacing of the tiles was critical as there over a 1000 tiles to fit thats a lot of / rows / columns meaning there is massive potential for any error in spacing adding up and causing some major issues with alignment unless you are careful and precise.
